No Nonsense For Women Who Really Live

Elegant Tankini
If you’ve been a fan of the simplicity and practicality of the crisp, clean-line clothing collections by Gap, then you’ll love the sleek, stylish no-nonsense tankini bathing suits that Athleta offers. The fresh naturalness of a woman living life, and loving it, is what Athleta celebrates, offering comfort and modest tankini swim top styles that can be mixed and matched with a series of bottoms that include full coverage, and even skirts, to sexier string bikini bottoms. Whether you go for a skirted style or a sexy little number, the none-bikini tankini is intended for women who live, who play hard, who have a passion for movement and sport. The bathing suits that Athleta designs are for women who don’t lie about tanning on the beach all summer, but those who rise early to practice yoga and by noon are out paddling a canoe or kayak; for those who can surf with the dudes and still laugh with the girls; for those beautiful, natural women who and share their passion for water sports through living it, not watching it.
Active women, not necessarily hot models, need a different type of bathing suite, one that fits well, that offers support, that’s effortless to put on and take off, that isn’t something fussy that needs adjusting or fidgeting with. And that’s why women’s tankinis, which offer the comfort and coverage of a tank top with the sleek minimalism of a bikini bottom, are ideal for rowing, paddling, doing lengths, investigating underwater depths or skimming across the surface on a board.

Rose tankini
With tankini swimming gear that hold names like Asana, Batik, Bohemian, Shirrendipty Halter Tankini, Tide, Bold Paisley, Stanup 3-Way and Surf, it’s obvious that the designers know who they are designing for and why…women who actually may understand the meaning of Shirrendipty because their lives are in fact serendipitous and bohemian; not foreign to a yoga asana and touched from time to time by a handmade batik sarong after surfing a tide standing up.
Support That Allows Movement

Tankini swimsuit
The underwire styles that offer exceptional support are those like the Bra Cup Twistini Tankini. These suits allow for sport activities without worrying about coverage or adequate support, and best of all come in C to double D cup sizes and the excellent frontal design of crossover and twisting bands that are held in place by the lower underwire. Fashionable and practical for active women. Adjust the straps to get better comfort and choose your fabric color and pattern, from plain to paisley. Pair with a bottom of your choice, from full coverage to strings. This is really affordable too. The top can be found for under $50 and the bottoms, depending on what you choose, can cost as little as $30. By the way, there’s a really wild pattern in this style called the Wasabi. Although it isn’t soft green like the Japanese sashimi paste, it’s bright enough to be considered just as hot.
India Ink That’s breathable and Quick Drying
With so many full coverage one piece bathing suits that offer good support why do active ladies still choose a shelf-bra halter tankini instead? The answer is simple. Sufficient support with freedom of movement and ….what so many women’s one-piece suits don’t offer is an open back whereas the tank-top style designs like the India Ink Border Tankini, the sun still touches the skin while surfing in Goa or at least a few rays can penetrate beyond the henna-like pattern of the suite and touch a soul that dreams of distant waves.
If the royal purple back is enticing, don’t let it’s funkiness fool you into thinking it’s not been crafted for those who swim and paddle and surf because it has. With quality fabric that’s Nylon and Spandex with a polyester lining and a rating of UPF 50+ and a weave that’s breathable and made for quick drying, it has everything needed for the serious sportswoman. And because the halter tied around the neck instead of having a fixed clasp, it’s adjustable, although for the best fit possible choose between the medium length body that ‘s about 22 inches long and the tall size that’s an inch and a quarter longer. It’s also not so delicate that it needs to be washed by hand or receive special care. Pack in a duffle bag when you’re off to India, unpack and wear, and when it’s full of sand and filled with memories, toss in a washer and let it air dry…then re-pack.
Billabong Swimwear and The Quest For A Pacific Top Outside of Queensland

Black tankini
If You’ve been searching for the latest billabong tankini, we’re sorry to have to tell you that the 2010 summer collection that has been released in the USA doesn’t appear to include any, although there are lots of great bikini styles. The good news is that there are still some online shops that carry the Billabong Pacific Tankini Top that’s never gone out of style, especially with surfers, although I believe you have to order from Australia because the US dealers have the same US catalogue. However, if anyone knows where to get the tankini designs that are so fabulous in the US, drop us a line. TY. Oh, by the way, the Pacific design we’re talking about that’s available in Australia costs just under $50 Aussie dollars….that’s about $40 USD, so it’s not a bad price even if you order from Aussieland! Ooops, but most of the places that retail online offer free shipping only within Australia, and charge a flat rate of $25 to ship to the US. That makes it pricey. If you really need this design, you might have to pick it up while you’re chasing surfs in Queensland….just look for the store at: 1 Billibong Place, just off Reedy Creek Road.
Isabella Oliver Maternity Swimwear

Maternity tankini
There’s no way of talking about tankini suits for ladies with active lifestyles and Billabong surfers in Australia and not talk about some yummy mommy Cami Tankinis from the collection of maternity creations by Isabella Oliver. Few maternity bathing suits are so well designed with a woman’s changing body in mind as these suits. And there’s something about two piece maternityswimwear like this that’s not just practical but may be totally necessary. It was a client of Isabella Oliver that brought it to our attention. She so simply stated: “….I chose the Tankini over the 1 Piece after my husband reminded me about the frequency of my toilet trips, now that I am in my final trimester….well pointed out!” Simone.
Thank you, Simone, for stating that. We forget about some of the basic things that women who are pregnant, and remain active, must take into consideration when choosing clothing and swimwear.
Simone also mentioned that The Cami was a little longer than it looked in the picture. She thought it was great because it covered her tummy, but we thought we’d pass that along to let others know.
We understand it’s not the cheapest maternity swimwear on the market, yes, it costs $99, but it’s made in a way that has made women feel free to continue swimming even into their final months of pregnancy.
There are just a few comments that must be noted: some ladies believe the top portion rides a little high, almost to the collarbone. Perhaps take that into account when choosing your size. By the way, it comes in blueberry, crimson red and deep pink.
A few other quick notes: The suit has adjustable straps, so the problems with length below on the tummy area and height at the collarbone should be resolved by adjusting the straps. It has a soft supporting built-in shelf bra, and the front of the top is fully lined which is a nice little feature for over the tummy area.
The Isabella Oliver collection doesn’t have a lot of other maternityswimwear items to choose from. We suppose that if someone makes something that’s great why make a hundred more….but if you’re interested in some gorgeous maternity sets that are for after swimming, you can’t go wrong the beautifully designed items like the Bandeau Wrap Top, which gracefully takes into account the shape of a woman, letting her maternal femininity shine through.
